Just as the Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy to “devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching” (1 Timothy 4:13, ESV), our Sunday mornings are focused upon walking through a book of the Bible with an emphasis upon reading the text aloud.
We usually read from either the English Standard Version (ESV) or New Living Translation (NLT). This allows us to listen to God’s word like the early church would have done in the first century.
Presently, we are reading through 1 John about one chapter at a time, taking time to reflect upon what we have read, much like we would do in a small group. Here, we teach, ask questions, make observations, and listen to each other’s comments in hopes of making God’s word real in our everyday lives.
